I think you're right about the less bad. Margaret kicked the clown, whereas Kite kicked the clown and the seal. Margaret is not better. (Well, actually, she IS because clowns are creepy but seals are cute. But my point is, if Margaret kicked one seal and Kite kicked two, Margaret is not better; Kite's just even worse than Margaret.)
In terms of less good, if Kite donated $500 and Margaret donated $400, is Margaret worse? I say no; what say you?
